Perpetual Licence Changes

Autodesk perpetual licences of software have been phased out worldwide. The current subscription offerings will continue to evolve with options that allow you to access multiple products and to share licences as you have in the past with perpetual licensing.

Individual Products

For individual desktop software products, since January 2016 you will have been buying desktop subscriptions.

Design & Creation Suite products

From 31 July 2016 suites have been replaced by Industry Collections.

Why are these changes being made

The way we design and build is changing quickly, which also changes the tools we use and the ways companies and individuals buy and access software. By subscribing, you receive a simplified customer experience, lower upfront cost and the ability to pay for Autodesk products and cloud services for the amount of time that is right for you: monthly, quarterly, annual and multi-year term lengths (availability may vary depending on region or access type).

Tailored plans

Your subscription makes it easier to access your software and stay up-to-date. We will continue to offer the same choice of subscription options available today, with an eye toward tailoring these plans to the needs of individuals, teams or enterprises in the coming months. For example, you will be able to subscribe to individual products or a portfolio of products that can be used by a single-user or shared by multiple users. Providing subscription offerings with flexible packaging and licensing options protects the value of your existing investment in our technologies and delivers a seamless path forward as we discontinue the sales of perpetual licences.

Our commitment to you

Throughout this period we will work with you to make this transition from perpetual licences to subscription-based offerings as smooth as possible and to deal with exceptional situations accordingly. We will provide as much advance notice as we can so that you can anticipate and plan for these changes
